IGLYO is excited to announce Mina Tolu as our new Communications Officer!
Mina comes from Malta, and was one of the founding members of We Are – the LGBTQQI Youth & Student Organisation in 2010. After holding the position of Communications Officer for three years, she is now the current President of this organisation. Her main interests are how social change and development are affected by social and digital media, and how these can help bring about a positive change on a global scale.
Mina had this to say: “I’m really excited to be able to combine my passions for communications and LGBTQ activism within IGLYO. I can’t wait to learn more about the experiences of LGBTQ youth and students from around Europe and the pan-European region, and use these stories to inspire and fuel the work I will be carrying out for IGLYO as Communications Officer. I believe that all media, but especially social media is a very powerful tool which can aid us in changing minds, and reach out to marginalised youth in a number of countries.”
Mina was chosen following the resignation of Sarah Rowlinson from the Executive Board. The IGLYO Executive Board would like to thank Sarah Rowlinson for her dedication to the work and development of IGLYO over the past two years. We wish her well in her future work!
IGLYO’s former Communications Officer Orlaith Hendron will join Patrick Dempsey as Co-Chair of the organisation.
