IGLYO — The International Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Youth and Student Organisation is the leading youth development and leadership organisation working with LGBTQI young activists. With 106 member organisations situated in 40+ countries in the Council of Europe region, IGLYO unites a great variety of individual and community experiences. You can learn more about IGLYO on iglyo.com.
This year, IGLYO will establish an Advocacy Working Group that will steer IGLYO’s direction and strategy regarding our advocacy work. In 2022, the Advocacy Working Group will be primarily working on the topic of “Health”.
We extend a warm invitation to applicants to join our Advocacy Working Group. Please read carefully the call below and apply before Monday 25 April 2022 at 23:59 CEST.
Applicants willing to join the Advocacy Working Group must meet the following criteria:
IGLYO particularly welcomes applications from underrepresented groups and communities such as young women, trans youth (including non-binary), intersex youth, young people from Black communities, other communities of colour and ethnic minorities, refugees/migrants, sex workers, disabled youth (including neurodivergent youth), young people living with HIV, and fat young people.
Membership or affiliation to an IGLYO member organisation is not mandatory.
The Advocacy Working Group represents an opportunity to shape the future of LGBTQI Youth activism in Europe and beyond. In doing so, members of the Working Group will gain practical insight and an in-depth understanding of European-level advocacy. Members of the Advocacy Working Group will observe and study the work and workings of IGLYO, an international network of LGBTQI Youth organisations and associations. The Working Group will be a creative and experimental space for developing ideas and institutionalising strategies for LGBTQI youth advocacy.
The Advocacy Working group members must have the capacity to attend two full-day online meetings in 2022. They will also be able to participate in 1 physical meeting (with travel and accommodation covered by IGLYO), although the in-person meeting is not mandatory.
Selected members of the Advocacy Working group will receive a total compensation of 800 EUR in 2022 to cover their time and expertise during those meetings.
The application process consists of two selection rounds: A personal statement round (in writing or video/audio) and an interview round.
The personal statement consists of a written or audio/video piece in which you should let us know why you would like to join the Advocacy Working Group, and which skills, knowledge and experiences you can contribute. Tell us about your background and your link to LGBTQI youth work. Any experience working on LGBTQI youth and health can be highlighted, but it is not mandatory. As the working language of the Advocacy Working Group will be English (speaking and writing), your application material should be in English as well.
Please address your motivational statement (in writing or video/audio) to our Policy & Research Officer Electra Zacharias at firstname.lastname@example.org, by Monday 25 April 2022 at 23:59 CEST.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview with two IGLYO staff members. The interview invitations will be sent on 29 April 2022 and the interviews will take place in the week of 9 May 2022.
Please feel free to get in touch with our Policy & Research Officer Electra Zacharias at email@example.com for any questions about this call.
