Since 2014, the Transfeminist Initiative TransAkcija has been working as the first and only trans-specific organisation in Slovenia. They are trans activists working with and for trans people. They work to support, inform, empower, and ally transgender people in Slovenia, and their core mission is to advocate for the human rights and freedoms of transgender and gender non-normative people.
At the heart of their work is supporting transgender people in all spheres of public and private life, and encouraging trans people to live their truth and allow themselves to experience joy. TransAkcija offers a diverse programme of psycho-social support services to transgender and LGBIQ+ people and allies, as well as various events, products, publications, and projects that aim to critically raise awareness, as well as to educate and build and strengthen communities.
TransAkcija's mission is to contribute to the visibility of transgender people and issues in public social spaces and advocate for the emergence of a discourse on gender, gender identities, and gender expressions in the Slovenian public.
