Georgia: a call for change – An IGLYO Statement

On the 30th of April, Madona Kirapoidze set herself on fire in front of Tbilisi City Hall. The protest is a desperate cry for help for her and the trans community, that has been so far neglected by the Georgian government.

In light of the horrific event, we call upon the Georgian government to make changes for inclusivity. Changes need to be made and we urge officials to provide support and appropriate assistance to the LGBTQI+ community, especially in these critical times, in which LGBTQI+ are most at risk.
