Capacity-building seminar on using a norm-critical approach in education
Stockholm, 4 and 6 April 2014
Application deadline: 24 February 2014
In 2012, ILGA-Europe launched a membership consultation in the area of education. The findings of the consultation have shown a strong need for capacity-building around education for ILGA-Europe’s membership. After a pilot-training organised jointly with IGLYO in December 2013, both organisations are now setting up a new capacity-building seminar focusing on the norm-critical approach.
We decided to explore this approach because norm criticism has proven to be a very powerful way of addressing all kinds of stereotypes and prejudices reflected in school environments.
This seminar is organised jointly with RFSL and RFSL Undgom, both of whom have experience in working with the norm-critical approach. The seminar will take place in Stockholm in RFSL’s premises.
We have limited the number of participants to 15 to allow for in-depth peer-learning. As with the pilot seminar, we are looking for both ‘leading’ organisations and ‘learning’ organisations, so participants with various levels of experience are encouraged to apply.
We will use non-formal education methodologies during the whole training.
The seminar is funded the European Commission, therefore we can only accept participants from EU Member states plus FYR Macedonia, Turkey, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Serbia.
