For 2015, IGLYO’s General Assembly has developed into an amazing Annual Member’s Conference with many exciting new additions:
LGBTQ Youth Activism in Eastern Europe (Thu 12th Nov)
An optional one day conference focusing on the issues faced by LGBTQ youth activists in the region of Eastern Europe, with guest speakers and facilitators from local LGBTQ organisations
Members’ Consultation and Networking Day (Fri 13th Nov)
IGLYO wants to ensure that it can accurately and confidently represent its membership on a European level, so we have added a full day to find out more about what your organisations are currently working on, what are the main issues you face in your work locally and nationally, and your achievements over the last year. We have also added more time for participants to connect with different organisations, find out about their work and make new partnerships.
General Assembly (Sat 14th – Sun 15th Nov)
The final two days of the event will cover all the statutory requirements of the organisation, such as electing new board members, voting on motions and approving new organisational documents and work plans. We’ve still managed to ‘spice up’ the programme, though, with the following additions:
Members’ Workshops (Sat 14th Nov)
For the first time, IGLYO is inviting Member Organisations to submit workshop proposals for their representative to deliver at the conference. This will provide another opportunity for participants to learn from one another, and give Members a unique opportunity to share best practice internationally.
Capacity Building Workshops (Sat 14th Nov)
With a real skills-based focus, IGLYO will invite a selection of external experts to facilitate workshops on essential topics like fundraising, advocacy and activist self care.
Each registered Member Organisation can send one representative to the event. (see below for additional participants).
There is a participation fee of €45 to attend, which covers travel (reimbursed after the event), accommodation (shared hostel dormitories) and meals. This should be paid during the registration process. If your organisation is unable to pay this fee, please email email@example.com to explain why and request a fee waiver.
Your representative should:
Know the work of your organisation well and be prepared to discuss this for the consultation activities
Be available to attend the full event (Arrivals on Thu 12th (or Wed 11th including pre-conference) and departures late on Sun 16th or Mon 17th)
Be able to communicate fluently in English
IGLYO also strongly encourages organisations to think about the diversity of the LGBTQI community when selecting a participant. We particularly welcome participants who are:
black, asian, minority ethnic
To help support more individuals and organisations attend our events, IGLYO is launching a new Participation Fund. We encourage our member organisations who can afford to do so, to sponsor another participant by donating an additional participation fee. This fund will cover the costs of fee waivers at this and future events. This donation can be added on the registration form.
Member Organisations can apply to send additional participants at a cost of €150 each. No travel or other costs will be reimbursed for such participants. They can be added on the registration form.
The registration form asks for your flight details, so please purchase or reserve your flight before starting registration. If your flight is more than €300, please contact us for approval before purchasing
