IGLYO on... EDUCATION (II)
n.5 - March / 2008
Dear friends,
here we go again! Some of you remember the second issue of IGLYO on..., dealing with Education back in Spring 2007. Here we go again - but with some fresh content!
First of all, Claire and Lucy, from the Board present IGLYO's latest developments in education. IGLYO has been active in the battle for the horizontal anti-discrimination directive to be discussed at the European level. Then, Maja Mojskerc from Legebitra in Slovenia writes about a seminar called 'Schools For All' held in February. Isabelle Cruette, aclaimed expert at the 2007 Strasbourg Study Session, presents her organisation's tested and approved method to get into schools and talk about homosexuality to youngsters. Afterwards, Peter Dankmeijer presents his network GALE, and explains what it can bring to LGBT activism worldwide when it comes to Education. Jen Daffin, a student at Lancaster Uniersity in the UK discusses practical ways in which LGBT students can influence their learning environment. Igor Lazarevski, from Macedonia, humourously highlights some of the characteristics of the Macedonian educational system, and its (non-) love afair with LGBT politics. Finally, Bruno from the Board relates IGLYO's latest successful event, which took place in Oslo last January. Lastly, we're currently preparing for our two up and coming events.
We hope this new issue of IGLYO on... brings you as much joy as we had putting it together!
